GOT 4.03: Part II "Breaker of Chains"

I didn't forget this week's dedication!
The Queen of Thorns

The Riverlands

Arya & The Hound
Arya and the Hound are taking a break, watering their horses, and chatting about next steps. Arya wants to know where they are, and asks to see the map. The Hound, says he has no idea where they are, and they will absolutely stop at the next map shop. He also informs her once again, that they are going to the Eyrie. It is important to note, that she has no reaction to the fact that he wants to sell her for gold. In fact, I believe Arya thinks that she will have a her chance to kill him, before they get there.  Suddenly, The Hound starts dreaming out loud, about the possibility of joining The Second Sons, in Braavos. Arya says that she has friends in Braavos. We remember our favorite sexy Faceless Man, don't we?

Jaqen H'gar: Arya's friend in Braavos (but with a different face)
As they are chatting a way, a farmer and his daughter ask why they are on their land. The Hound, having no interpersonal skills, is saved by Arya, who has excellent ones.
The Farmer and his daughter checking up on the Hound & Arya
"Forgive my father, he was wounded in the war,
and has never been the same."
The farmer and his daughter are very kind, as they still believe in Guest Right. You know the one that the Frey's broke by killing Robb and the North? He even offers the Hound a job! and silver! Arya is too hungry to care, at least not until the next morning. There is still some part of Arya that believes in being a good person, and she freaks out after the Hound steals the farmer's silver. She starts screaming at the Hound.
" You are a liar and a bastard! I hate you!"
And you know what? The Hound is a dangerous, angry, man, who lacks honor. But he speaks truth more times than not; and the way he delivers these pieces of wisdom, reinforces the fact that he is a cruel, bitter man. The first time we see him share these pieces of wisdom, was with Sansa. He told Sansa that all men were killers, including her father & brother.

In this moment, we see him share some "Hound" wisdom with Arya. As Arya is screaming at him, he tells her that the farmer and his daughter are weak, and they will not survive the winter. But it's true, right? Cat reminds Renly of this in Season 2, when she tries to broker an alliance with Robb. She tells him that they are the Knights of Summer (they were in the Riverlands), and they need to be ready for winter.

Truth tea, by The Hound
"There are plenty worse than me. I just understand the way things are. How many Starks do they have to behead before you figure that out?"

Let's head up North.

The Wildlings
We have about five minutes of seeing a kid and his Dad talking about dinner and potatoes, and then he's got an arrow stuck in his throat? Head? I can't remember; irregardless he's dead. Torumund, the Thenn's and Ygitte start killing and running through this idyllic little village. The boy sees Ygritte killing people with her bow and arrow, and he knows that she killed his father.

This is OT: This show has made a habit out of making changes to things that do not need to be changed. So, I really hope that they don't have this kid, kill Ygritte. Jon is already a very serious character, and after the death of Ygritte, he is heartbroken, and it affects him deeply. As you know, I predicted that HBO Jon will kill her inadvertently with an arrow during the Battle for the Wall, and she will die in his arms, as she does in the book. The difference with Book Jon is that he thinks that he kills her, but realizes that he did not.

Continuing on....Styr, Magnar of Thenn tells the kid, that he'll eat his parents if he doesn't give Castle Black a heads up. I am not even going to try to understand his rationale.

The Nights Watch

Sam & Gilly
So, Sam is walking through the courtyard, and all his brothers are still making fun of him. And this is another one of the moments that I have no idea why they changed it. No one believes that Sam killed a wight, and Sam the Slayer, is a joke. In the book, the fact that he killed a wight, is a turning point in his character arc. Why change that? I have no idea.

He goes to visit Gilly, who is plucking some geese for dinner. They have a chat where Sam tells her that she will be safer somewhere else. Naturally, Sam in his naiveté, and the fact that he is in love with Gilly, forgets that she was raped by her father and husband, and has a baby named Sam.  The NW is like heaven when compared to her situation prior to meeting Sam.

Sam brings Gilly to this disgusting whorehouse in Moles Town.  He pays the owner, and gives her explicit instructions that Gilly should not become a whore. He goes to say good-bye to Gilly, who is po'ed because she has to take care of her baby in this disgusting, hay filled space.

Jon Snow

Jon is becoming one sexy leader, yes?
I know that I speak all the time about how much I love Jon.  Jon is my favorite character in the books, and they have not done him justice.  This is his season, and he is finally acting, as he should have been all along, as a young man, coming into his own, and finding his identity.

That being said, Grenn and Dolores Ed return from Craster's Keep. Apparently since the murder of Ser Mormont, they were prisoners of the mutineers. Jon's little lie about how there are 1000 men at Castle Black, is becoming a big problem.

He advises the entire NW that they have to go to Craster's Keep and kill the mutineers. Why? Well Mance is coming, and they are going to share with him the fact that there are only 300 of them at the Wall.

Naturally, he does not get permission in this episode, but he will later.

Dany and Meereen
Dany is at her last stop of her " Lets Free all of the Slaves, and start Civil Wars" tour: Meereen.
Meereen
Apparently Meereen, one of the most difficult cities to conquer, always sends out a champion to fight   the enemy's champion. All three of Dany's boys offer to be her champion. Alas, Daario wins because he is a just a nobody, whose mother is a slave.

Dany, who clearly thinks that he is both an idiot, and totally hot, agrees to it.
Daario offering to be Dany's champion
She and Daario stand looking at Meereen's champion, and Daario is all ready to go.

Don't worry babe, I got this.

Daario, kissing his signature knife for luck

You want me now, don't you?
Dany looks at Daario, totally turned on, because well, she loves a man who can stab a horse, and cut off her enemy's head, in 60 seconds or less.

As soon as I finish freeing slaves &
killing their Masters, stop by my room.
Dany gives her "I'm going to free you speech", and catapults barrel's of slave collars into the city. I have to say Emilia Clarke delivers High Valyrian with such passion, that sometimes it sounds better than her English.

Join me slaves of Meereen!
Look at all of my free soldiers and people, behind me.
