This is a blog about the television show "Game of Thrones", and how it has interpreted the ASOIAF series by George R.R. Martin. I have read the books more than once, and some POV's more than others. I am not an expert, nor do I know every theory out there, but I definitely know much more than the casual reader. Everything I write is from the POV of a book reader, and this includes TWOIAF, and his other work in this world.
My House:
Who are my favorite characters?
Ned Stark will always be number one, even if he's long dead. However Jon Snow is my favorite, with Jaime and Arya closely behind. I was a big fan of Dany until she rode off on Drogon at the end ADWD, but that is a discussion for another day.
We also have Cersei Lannister, who is one of those characters that you love to hate. Her POV's are amazing, because you see how she is becoming increasingly paranoid and delusional, and leaves chaos in her wake.
Asha Greyjoy and Arianne Martell are also favorite characters, and Lady Nym. I know that we will not be getting any more POV's but what little we saw of her through Areo Hotah's eyes, was so intriguing, it made me want to learn more about her.
Finally, although we learn a great deal about Brienne in her POV's, overall they are boring. Sansa is my least favorite character, as I have alway found her to be the weakest of the Stark children. I know that she is supposedly on her way to becoming a stronger woman, but we're on Book 5, and only hints of it are appearing.
Why is this blog called "Be True to Who You Are"
As a book reader, one of the major themes is about discovering, or in some cases deciding who you want to be. There are many characters struggling to find their true selves, and it is one of the reasons that I love these books so much.
Let's name a few:
Robb Stark, although reluctantly became the heir to his father, was the first King of the North since Aegon the Conqueror came to Westeros. Jon Snow, (who is too complicated to fully summarize), is in the process of becoming who he is meant to be in ASOIAF, by preparing/will be leading the the final battle against The Others, and in denial that he is a powerful warg. Dany is on her way to the Targaryen crazy train, and declare herself Queen of Westeros, has a larger role to play. Jaime Lannister has freed himself from Cersei, and is trying to regain some sense of honor, although he will always be the Kingslayer to the world. And so many more....
Why is this blog incomplete?
Well. I do this for fun, as so many of us do, but we all have our real lives too. I, for some reason, half way through a season fall behind, and can't catch up. However, I plan on completing S6 first, and then 5.09, and 5.10, and then the remainder of S4, hopefully by the end of the year.
Thanks for Reading!
