Game of Thrones 3.10: Part II "Mhysa"

It's kind of last minute, but:

Part II  of "Mhysa", would have included stories of Jaime Lannister, Jon Snow, and Bran/Jojen/Meera and of course Hodor, Kings Landing, and Dany. I have not checked out this blog in a while, but apparently I never completed it, so here is the short version.

My next post will be for predictions for Season 4, ie. how i think the episodes will unfold.

Jaime, Brienne & The Return to Kings Landing
We find Jaime spending a bit of time w/Qyburn.

Qyburn is the reason that Jaime's injury has been healing so well.  We get to see his wound as he cleans it and puts another bandage on it.  But Qybrun also shares that he has performed some experiments on living people, in order to learn more about how to treat them. He also implies that he does unthinkable things to living people, who are not sick or dying. Jaime's kind of horrified, but they have this great little conversation:

Qyburn: How many people have you killed?
Jaime: (thinks for a moment), I can't really say.
Qyburn: How many people have you saved?
Jaime: 500,000, the population of Kings Landing.

It is after this conversation that Jaime returns to Harrenhal and saves Brienne from the bear. I would have loved, if they had kept the moment when Brienne asks Jaime why he came back, and he says "I dreamed of you".  In the book, he says that he was going to lie, and was like screw it, I'll just tell her the truth. This event was a major turning point for Jaime.

As soon as he arrives at Kings Landing, he goes to see Cersei, who seems to be gazing lovingly, at what I would guess are King Sociopath's baby toys. He walks in and says "Cersei", and she just turns, looks at him, and he looks down, shrugs, and it was not a nasty look, but it was almost glowering. Yeah, and in S4, you'll see how losing that hand, has given him much needed clarity. It's like I said: it was the best thing to ever happen to him.

"Hey babe, I'm home!"
The Wall
Sam, Gilly, and Bran/Hodor, Jojen and Meera, bump into each other at the Wall. Bran & Co. have decided to go beyond the Wall, as that is where Bran will find the three eyed crow. Sam leads them through a tunnel, and that is where they part ways. He also, in a brilliant move, gives them all of the obsidian daggers. You know the ones that kill the White Walkers?

Eventually, after settling Gilly in, sending out the birds to warn the realm about the White Walkers, Jon shows up.

Jon Snow
Well, they have not handled his character that well, because he is an amazing one, and my favorite. I have always complained about the lack of Ghost, as he is essential to understand his character.

We find Jon, who is on his way home, stops for water, and Ygritte finds him. Naturally she is a woman scorned, and shoots 3 arrows into him, so he is a mess when he returns to the Wall.

"You know nothing Jon Snow"
"Sam, I"m home! Oh, and my wildling girlfriend shot me."

In the book, he thinks that she shoots him, and it's one arrow, in the thigh, and he doesn't stop for water. It is also when he escapes with the help of Summer (Bran is a warg, remember?). Book Jon, is much smarter than HBO Jon, whose character development had better be back on track, as this is Jon's season.

Dany
Well, Astapor kicked off the Dany "Let's Free all of the Slaves, and start Civil Wars", tour.  She destroys cities, sets up puppet governments and frees slaves as she rages through Slavers Bay.

We leave her with cries of "Mhysa", as she frees the slaves of yet another city, Yunkai. She stands with Messandei, and her boys: Ser Jorah, Ser Barristan, and of course her future lover, and mercenary extraordinaire, Darrio Naharis, waiting for the slaves to leave the city. She sends the dragons away, and then walks into the crowd.

Dany: Mother of Dragons, & Rockstar of Yunkai

We will eventually see her in Meereen, where she will rule, until the end of ADWD. We can see the crazy settling in, as she leaves disease and chaos in her wake. Oh, and she can no longer control her dragons, Drogon is the most dangerous, and everybody's trying to kill her.  See you in Mereen!

Kings Landing
Our last scene of Sansa is when she has learned of her brother and mothers' deaths. Then we have one of the best scenes ever: King Tywin's council. Boy is it a fun one, because King Sociopath is smiling with glee, as he has won the war, and TALKS down to Grandpa Tywin. Everyone, even Tyrion looks like they are going to be sick, and King Tywin is having none of it:

"Any man who must say 'I am the King', is no true king. I'll make sure you understand that when I've won the war for you."

He asks Maester Pycelle to give him some "essence of nightshade", aka warm milk, because King Sociopath is so very tired.

King Tywin: loving grandfather, and master of genocide

We have a great scene where Tyrion tells his father that "The North Never Forgets" and there will be repercussions for the Red Wedding. After all, Tyrion is the smartest of the Lannisters, and they have an actual conversation! It is about the Red Wedding, and what they will do, with the North decimated. This is when Lord Tywin, in his infinite wisdom, tells Tyrion, about what is now, his second act of genocide:

"Well, we had to get rid of the Starks, and it was going to be too expensive to fight on the battlefield. So, I got the best patsy ever, Lord Frey, and the greedy, Lord "traitorous ass" Bolton, to take care of it for me. It was so much cheaper, to have a wedding, and kill everyone there. "

As always, it is so heartwarming to hear him tell Tyrion how much he hates him, and that he tried to drown him after he was born. But, sadly, he remembered that Tyrion was a Lannister, and saved his life. Thus setting the stage for Tyrion's deeply seeded anger, and resentment, that will continue to grow in S4.

That's it! Next up, S4 predictions!
